Award winner.................

Daily Herald

Kohl's Department Stores recently honored more than 1,400 kids nationwide for helping transform their communities through volunteerism. Eight youth from Utah will receive $50 gift cards and certificates of recognition from Kohl's.

Store-level winners will compete for 170 regional scholarships worth $1,000 each. Regional winners will then compete for 10 national scholarships worth $5,000 each. In addition, Kohl's will contribute $1,000 to each national winner's nonprofit organization of choice. Regional and national winners will be announced in June and July, respectively.

Local store winners include:

Courtney Bennett, 12, Lehi - Courtney raised money for children with Down syndrome.

Cortney Chadburn, 18, Provo - Courtney was part of a group that performs dances at schools and charity events.

The scholarship program is part of Kohl's Cares for Kids, a program focused on improving the lives of children. For more information, visit

We are so proud of Courtney, she collected money over a 3 week period all by herself for our Buddy Walk team. The money goes to benefit children in our commute who have Down syndrome. I will post picture soon.
